Amount Awarded: $1,500
Purpose of Grant: Funds to support the migrant outreach program which provides direct assistance for food, clothing, medical supplies and other humanitarian needs.

Tom and Louie’s Cupboard, Pueblo
Amount Awarded: $1,500
Purpose of Grant: Funds to support the annual Thanksgiving Food Drive, increasing Tom and Louie’s giving potential by 30% and allowing Tom and Louie to assist up to an additional 150 families.

Our Lady of Grace, (SOLT Sisters), Capulin
Amount Awarded: $2,000
Purpose of Grant: Funds to support the SOLT Sisters’ humanitarian and charity ministry in the San Luis Valley, to include visiting the elderly, feeding the hungry and providing winter clothing, shoes and school supplies to children.

St. Vincent de Paul Food Bank, (St. Joseph Parish), Pueblo
Amount Awarded: $1,000
Purpose of Grant: Funds to support St. Joseph’s food bank which serves the St. Charles Mesa.

La Puente Home, Alamosa 
Amount Awarded: $1,000
Purpose of Grant: Funds to support the Adelante program which works to lift economically disadvantaged families out of homelessness.

Catholic Charities, Pueblo
Amount Awarded: $3,000
Purpose of Grant: Funds to support the recently established Alliance to Combat Human Trafficking office for southern Colorado.

Grand Valley Peace and Justice, Grand Junction
Amount Awarded: $4,100
Purpose of Grant: Funds to support the Emergency Shelter Program to provide warm, safe, overnight shelter to the homeless, primarily during the cold months of mid-October through mid-April.

A Caring Pregnancy Center, Pueblo
Amount Awarded: $500
Purpose of Grant: Funds to provide Life Services educational classes.

Canon City Pregnancy Center, Canon City
Amount Awarded: $1,500
Purpose of Grant: Funds to upgrade the current Youth Program to a better-rounded, Christian based and morally ethical curriculum.

Universal Chastity Education, Pueblo
Amount Awarded: $4,000
Purpose of Grant: Funds to provide multiple chastity talks at various parishes throughout the Diocese of Pueblo, and to sponsor an international chastity speaker for additional events.

2016-17 Humanitarian Concern Grants

Humanitarian grants are distributed throughout the calendar year. Grantees will be updated as funding is awarded.

San Luis Valley Women’s Resource Center, Alamosa
Amount Awarded: $1,500
Purpose of Grant: Funds to provide support to assist clients with parenting skills and to help families purchase layette supplies, bassinets and car seats for small children.

Tom and Louie’s Cupboard, Pueblo
Amount Awarded: $1,500
Purpose of Grant: Funds to support the annual Thanksgiving food drive and provide resources to purchase food to fill baskets for 500 deserving families.

Lighthouse Pregnancy Center, Gunnison
Amount Awarded: $1,500
Purpose of Grant: Funds to provide supplies for the Baby Store which supports expecting clients in the Earn While You Learn program as they work to purchase necessary supplies for their newborn.

Centro de Los Pobres, Avondale
Amount Awarded: $500
Purpose of Grant: Funds to provide direct food assistance and other basic necessities to those served by Los Pobres.

Agape Food Basket, Fruita
Amount Awarded: $500
Purpose of Grant: Funds to provide supplies for the Emergency Food Bank which serves the Lower Valley, (Fruita, Loma, Mack). The food bank is operated by Sacred Heart Parish in partnership with Fruita United Methodist Church, and served nearly 900 households in 2016.

La Junta Associated Charities
Amount Awarded: $1,000
Purpose of Grant: Funds to support the ministries of La Junta Associated Charities which provides food and emergency relief to teens, individuals and families in need, in the rural communities of La Junta, Cheraw and Swink. L.J.A.C. also provides school supplies, Christmas boxes to the needy, collects coats and assists with the annual, community Christmas Dinner for the less fortunate.

Homeward Bound of the Grand Valley, Grand Junction
Amount Awarded: $750
Purpose of Grant: Funds to help Homeward Bound provide safe and healthy shelter for homeless adults and their families, provide night shelter, opperate three transitional programs and collaborate with local churches to provide additional emergency night shelter in the winter.

Our Lady of Guadalupe/St. Patrick Parish, La Junta
Amount Awarded: $1,000
Purpose of Grant: Funds to support the Red Rose Relief program to provide direct assistance to those seeking need in the Arkansas Valley.
